The Trail Connections Partners Points East Guesthouse, Pouch Cove This century old, renovated, comfortable fisherman’s home with hobby farm and garden at the edge of the ocean has the feel of an earlier era. From the doorstep you enjoy a great view of the ocean and dramatic coastline. The house is filled with Newfoundland literature, music and original art. Pouch Cove, a picturesque outport that attracts many artists, is located 25 km north of St. John’s and your hiking tour normally starts here, at the northern tip of the East Coast Trail. Host Elke Dettmer is one of the founders of the East Coast Trail Association and acts as coordinator of the Trail Connections hiking program. The City Hostel of St. John's The City Hostel of St. John's is centrally located in the Heritage district within walking distance of a great variety of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and such major attractions as Signal Hill. Private rooms feature a small fridge and a microwave oven, a bathroom and shower. You have access to a full kitchen, a common room, washer / dryer and free wifi. A shuttle service for hikers along the East Coast Trail can be booked here. Currently there are no other partners in the hiking program. However, we are happy to make recommendations for other possible locations along the East Coast Trail.
